Drum circle etiquette
Learning various playing techniques on percussion instruments from around the world.
Learning how to hold and strike the instruments
Learning about the origins of the various percussion instruments
Basic soloing ideas
Basic call and responses from different musical cultures around the world
How to listen to the overall music that is being made and finding your spot within that soundscape.
Damion Corideo is a professional Percussionist with two degrees and over 25 years experience. I have performed with various orchestras and chamber ensembles on classical percussion instruments around the US. I have performed with many different world music ensembles including Salsa bands, Javanese and Balinese gamelan, Indian Tabla ensembles, North African/Middle Eastern ensembles, Eastern European ensembles, West African Ensembles and Steel Drum bands around the world. Most recently I finished a 7-year world tour with Cirque du Soleil as their percussionist with the show, ‘Varekai’
